History
FDI incorporated in the State of New York in April 1992 and exists to capitalize on the opportunities provided by two significant transformations in the trucking industry:
- Deregulation of the industry in 1980's combined with the current explosion of information technology has created an extraordinarily fluid cost environment.
- Recognizing the need to focus on their core business, companies nationwide began lowering costs by outsourcing many functions traditionally performed by their own staff. Many of the services performed by in-house traffic departments are natural selections for outsourcing.
The constant evolution of transportation continues to generate opportunities for knowledgeable shippers to realize substantial cost savings.
FDI is an "Information Based" freight management provider - we own no trucks. We purchase the industry's excess capacity and fill trucks that would otherwise travel empty. Unlike "Asset Based" transportation companies, that invest hundreds of thousands of dollars in truck equipment and maintenance, we are not compelled to utilize our own equipment and therefore can objectively seek out and employ the most cost efficient method of bringing our customers goods to market. Our staff offers decades of experience in transportation and distribution and, because our purpose is to collect, interpret and capitalize on transportation information, we maintain the most current information technology available in the industry.
FDI has experienced a superb growth rate since inception in 1992. We enjoy a strong financial position and maintain an impeccable credit reputation. Compunet Credit Services, Inc has honored us for our "exceptional business and payment practices". We are members of the Transportation Intermediaries Association and continue to build our standing with both customers and carriers by subscribing to the highest ethical and performance standards.
